BOGA WITH RACHEL PODGER

Boga is kind of Yoga for the bowing arm: physical exercises, with and without the bow, helpful for 'playing into' gut strings and for creating a beautiful deep sound on your baroque violin/viola/cello/string instrument. We will focus on flexibility in the wrist and elasticity in the fingers. This will help us to get as much contrast in baroque gestures and articulations with our bowing arm-speech-tool.

• Incorporate breathing to the bow: in order to do this we have to be conscious of our breathing and relate this with our bow movements.
